A Psychedelic Wonderland: Meow Wolf
If you haven’t heard of Meow Wolf, get ready to pack your bags because this is something you have to experience at least once in your lifetime.
What is Meow Wolf?
Something you simply can’t put into words. The best way to describe it would be a psychedelic wonderland in an abandoned bowling alley located in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Local artists came together in 2016 with the help from Game of Thrones Creator, George R.R. Martin, to build what is one of the most immersive and interactive places I've ever been to in my life. Amazingly enough, it doubles as a music venue. When we saw Yheti was playing back in October, Sara, Kenzie and I knew we had to make the trip.
“ The best fantasy is written in the language of dreams. It is alive as dreams are alive, more real than real ... for a moment at least ... that long magic moment before we wake.” -George R.R. Martin
Upon entering Meow Wolf, I had no idea what I was in for. Massive colorful hallways with trippy designs were the first thing I saw upon entering this magical realm. I somehow ended up in the "House of Eternal Return" where a DJ was playing in the living room....straight house party vibes. The next second I was sliding down a washing machine which led me into a completely different world . I felt like I visited 10 universes that night. There is so many little details that it’s something you have to experience for yourself. Let’s not forget about that Yheti set. His experimental vibes set the perfect tone for a night I'll never forget.
The Expansion of Meow Wolf
Meow Wolf just announced that they will be creating a new installation in Denver targeted to open in 2020. They have also looked at expanding to locations such as Washington D.C., Phoenix, and Minneapolis. Each installation will be designed differently with help from artists in the area to showcase local creativity and take us into worlds we would have never imagined. Catch me in Denver in 2020, I can't wait to see what's in store.
